Getting Out of My Comfort Zone

At least, color wise.

A lovely lady in my quilt guild (Calgary Modern Quilt Guild http://calgarymqg.blogspot.ca/ ) was selling fat quarter bundles of Tula Pink’s Eden line (http://www.tulapink.com/eden/ ) , and I couldn’t say no. The colors and prints are so different from what I’m normally attracted to, but they pull you in and are gorgeous to look at, so I had to just go with it.

My oldest daughter was head over heels for the flashy prints and gorgeous hues and quickly claimed this collection as hers.

I didn’t have a pattern in mind, but at the last guild meeting, member Cheryl Arkison (http://www.cherylarkison.com/ )  had brought in some of her pieces. One was a triangle quilt made with all kinds of bright fun patterns, so that’s what inspired mine.

With my trusty Missouri Star Quilt Company triangle ruler ( https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/5545/msqc/-/large-simple-wedge-template-for-10-squares ), I just cut until there were no more pieces.

I love how it turned out. Free of perfect points and straight lines (no quilt police here, right?) it’s now one of our family favorite couch quilts for watching tv.

So, go ahead! Get some of that fabric that’s speaking to you and just go for it. You may just surprise yourself.
