Lucky Penny, Lucky Indeed!

Ever since the Missouri Star Quilt Company (https://www.missouriquiltco.com/ )   came out with their “Block” magazine ( https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/magazine ), I have been a faithful buyer. A local quilt shop here in Calgary, Along Came Quilting ( alongcamequilting.com )  , offers subscriptions, delivered to the store at a fantastic price. They also carry the MSQC line of templates etc. Each issue is as good as a full quilting book, at a fraction of the cost. They are very beginner friendly, and really well written. As a bonus, a lot of the patterns found in “Block” have tutorial videos on the MSQC YouTube channel.

This pattern, Lucky Penny ( https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/21422/msqc/-/lucky-penny-quilt-pattern ), caught my eye as soon as I saw it. I’ve now, finally, started to attempt it.

I’m impressed at how quickly it’s come together. All three kids have been sick this past week, and as a result, yesterday was the first chance I’ve had to sit at the sewing table.

So happy to say that they’re all on the mend, and now keeping me from sewing thanks to requests for playing. Such a relief, and I’m thrilled to oblige them.

This is the progress I managed to make last evening after they were all snuggled in to sleep though. It will be a baby quilt for Little Miss #4 coming this Spring, and is my first attempt at using Fireside as a backing.

I’m loving this ‘Free Spirit’ fabric.
